Security updates for Windows 10

Microsoft has published information about the cost of subscribing to security updates for Windows 10, which will be available as part of the Extended Support Update (ESU) program starting in October 2025. Subscriptions will be available for three years.

The Windows 10 ESU program is available to all users, not just corporate customers, and subscription sales will begin in October 2024, one year prior to the end of Windows 10 support.

Here are the costs associated with the subscription:

– $61 per device for the first year

– $122 per device for the second year

– 244 per device for the third year

If you want to continue receiving security updates after October 2025, you will need to purchase a separate subscription for each device. Even if you participate in the extended update support program after one or two years, you will still need to pay for updates during those years when you weren’t subscribed. You will also need to pay for any years when you couldn’t participate in the program due to circumstances beyond your control. If your device meets the minimum system requirements, Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11 in order to avoid paying for security updates after October 2025.
